Bio
Welcome! My name is Laurel, and I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 20 years of experience working with children, young adults, and families. Areas of specialty include issues related to chronic and life-limiting illness, adoption, young adulthood, and affirming LGBTQ personhood.
I believe that growth and healing come in many forms. Change can happen when we recognize patterns and are willing to take steps in a new direction. I utilize a calm and empathetic approach with values rooted in social justice. My practice style is highly relational, starting with building trust and transparency. I enjoy helping people find creative solutions to their problems by encouraging them to tap into their own resilience. I use a strengths-based approach and apply Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Informed Therapy, Mindfulness techniques, Motivational-Interviewing, Family Systems Theory, and Attachment Theory.
Fun Fact: I truly love rain.
